Volleyball prospect Naima Tilivala-Lewis

For Naima Tilivala-Lewis, development has been about becoming a more complete volleyball player rather than fitting into only one role.

The Class of 2028 athlete from Long Beach, California stands 6 feet tall and contributes as both a setter and right-side hitter, giving her a valuable combination of size and positional versatility.

Tilivala-Lewis reported averaging 10 assists and three aces per set last season while completing her second year at the varsity level.

She also reached an all-time assist high during a season that continued expanding her responsibilities within the offense.

For a setter, consistency and tempo can determine how effectively an entire offense operates.

Those were two of Tilivala-Lewis’ biggest offseason priorities.

She focused on improving the consistency of her sets and controlling offensive tempo while also placing an increased emphasis on her vertical ability. Improving explosiveness gives her additional value both as an offensive threat on the right side and as an athlete capable of competing above the net.

Her 6 foot frame already provides a strong foundation for the position.

The next stage is continuing to combine that physical profile with clean decision making, repeatable technique and the ability to put hitters in favorable situations possession after possession.

Tilivala-Lewis credits Coach Joy and Coach Hamilton as important parts of her development.

She has indicated that there is recruiting interest surrounding her, although she is not currently able to publicly disclose those details.

That leaves plenty to follow as her Class of 2028 recruiting process continues.

With multiple varsity seasons already behind her and another year of physical and technical development ahead, Tilivala-Lewis has an opportunity to continue separating herself as a setter and right-side prospect capable of contributing in several different ways.
