Lewisville Sophomore Kason Crumpton Bringing Verified Track Speed to Loaded Farmers Roster

Lewisville running back Kason Crumpton may only be entering his sophomore season, but the Class of 2029 prospect is already beginning to separate himself as one of the younger names to watch in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

At 5 foot 9 and 170 pounds, Crumpton combines legitimate track speed with the contact balance and physical running style needed to translate that speed to the football field. He has already earned an offer from Arkansas State while still working his way into the varsity rotation at one of the more talent filled programs in North Texas.

The speed is not simply a football claim.

As a freshman, Crumpton competed at the varsity level in the 100 meters for Lewisville and ran multiple verified times in the 10.8 range. He recorded a 10.86 at the Marcus Steve Telaneus Invitational and a 10.85 during the District 5 6A preliminaries before running 10.88 in the district final.

That speed immediately shows up on film.

Crumpton is the type of running back who can turn a small crease into a major gain. Once he gets through the first level and has room to accelerate, defensive pursuit angles begin disappearing quickly. He gets north and south without wasting movement and possesses the type of legitimate sprinter speed that makes him difficult to catch once he reaches the open field.

But his game is not based solely on running away from defenders.

At 170 pounds, Crumpton also displays impressive contact balance for a young back. He runs with enough strength to work through contact and maintain his feet, giving him a combination of acceleration and physicality that should become even more dangerous as his body continues to develop.

Crumpton has identified adding size while maintaining his speed as one of his primary developmental goals. If he can continue adding functional strength without sacrificing his explosiveness, his ceiling becomes increasingly interesting.

His emergence is even more impressive considering the competition around him at Lewisville.

Head coach Michael Odle enters his seventh season leading his alma mater after compiling a 48 and 23 record through his first six years as head coach. Lewisville finished 8 and 3 in 2025 and returns a roster Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has described as being built to contend in 2026.

The Farmers are not short on college prospects either. Lewisville’s recruiting platform currently lists at least a dozen players from the 2027 through 2029 classes with documented college offers, including nationally recruited prospects Taelyn Mayo and Derrick Martin III, along with younger players such as Landon Brazzell and 2029 offensive lineman Tahj Perkins.

For a sophomore running back to already be earning varsity opportunities inside that type of roster says plenty about Crumpton’s trajectory.

Crumpton also credits Lewisville coaches including Coach Blackwell, along with trainers Le’Andre Nebbitt of Metro Performance and Demontrie Taylor of Next Level Performance, for helping continue his development.

There is still plenty of football ahead for the young back, but the foundation is already evident.

Verified speed. Good size for his age. Contact balance. Early varsity experience. A college opportunity already on the table.

For Kason Crumpton, 2026 provides the chance to show that his freshman flashes were only the beginning.
