Explosive DFW Linebacker Ben-Yanis Nyobe Gearing Up for a Big Senior Season

Ray Braswell senior linebacker Ben-Yanis Nyobe enters the 2026 season as a physical presence in the middle of the Bengals defense and a prospect with an opportunity to continue building his name at the collegiate level.

The Class of 2027 linebacker is coming off a productive season in which he recorded 72 total tackles, 20 tackles for loss and two sacks . Those numbers tell part of the story, but Nyobe’s impact becomes even more apparent when watching him on film.

At 6 foot 0 and 220 pounds, Nyobe possesses the frame you look for in a collegiate inside linebacker. He plays with length, physicality and the ability to trigger downhill quickly once he diagnoses the run.

His run defense immediately stands out. Nyobe does not spend much time hesitating once he identifies his responsibility. He attacks the line of scrimmage, uses his length to work off blocks and is a willing and physical tackler when he arrives at the football. There is a nastiness to his game that fits the position.

That combination of size, speed and physicality gives Nyobe an intriguing foundation as a college prospect. He already holds an opportunity from Austin College , giving him an early chance to continue his football career beyond Braswell.

Nyobe has spent his offseason placing an emphasis on improving his footwork, speed and overall football IQ. Those areas could be important in taking the next step from a productive high school linebacker into a more complete player capable of handling the demands of the collegiate game.

He will also be part of a new era at Braswell. The Bengals enter the 2026 season under new head coach Justen Evans , who arrived after a successful nine year run at Corpus Christi Miller.
