District 5-6A Quarterback Rankings Through Week 1

Our first look at the district's quarterbacks after opening week.

1. 1

   Sash Suriya — Little Elm

   Suriya totaled 317 yards — 231 passing and 86 rushing — with two passing touchdowns in Little Elm's 31-10 win over Arlington Lamar. Lamar featured multiple Division I-caliber defenders and entered the game heavily favored. Suriya stood out with clean footwork, efficient mechanics, excellent ball placement and legitimate dual-threat ability.

   Laykon Brassfield — Lewisville

   Brassfield completed 16 of 21 passes for 247 yards and five touchdowns, while adding 61 rushing yards and another score in Lewisville's 56-42 win over Highland Park. His 308 total yards and six touchdowns made him one of the biggest performers of Week 1. Brassfield displayed arm talent, efficiency and the ability to consistently create with his legs against a quality Highland Park team.

   Baron Sampson — Flower Mound

   Sampson completed 17 of 32 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns in Flower Mound's 28-24 win over McKinney Boyd. Several well-placed passes were left incomplete through drops, but he continued to deliver accurate throws and showed impressive toughness and poise. Sampson finished the night by throwing a 35-yard game-winning touchdown with 49 seconds remaining.

   Carter Morgan — Denton Guyer

   Morgan completed 22 of 37 passes for 276 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions in Guyer's 45-20 victory over Rockwall-Heath. Heath brought legitimate recruited talent on defense, while Morgan showed why his dual-threat ability remains one of his strongest traits. His ability to extend plays and create on the ground continues to make him a dangerous piece of Guyer's offense.

   Cash Davis — Marcus

   Davis completed 14 of 21 passes for 214 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions as Marcus defeated Northwest 41-38 in overtime. He protected the football and played efficient, controlled quarterback throughout the matchup. Davis opens the season at No. 5 with an opportunity to continue climbing as district play develops.

   Brady Brock — Hebron

   Brock and Hebron faced a difficult Week 1 matchup against a talented Coppell defense in a 40-10 loss. Despite the result, Brock continues to show impressive arm strength and the ability to generate velocity despite his smaller frame. His ability to spin the football remains one of the more noticeable traits in the district.

7. 7

   Ausdyn Kahouch — Wakeland

   Kahouch completed 8 of 14 passes for 150 yards in Wakeland's 42-7 loss to Richland. He remains an intriguing dual-threat quarterback with the athleticism to extend plays and create outside of structure. Week 1 was a difficult opener, but his mobility gives him plenty to build on moving forward.

8. 8

   Khalyl Moore — Braswell

   Moore opens the rankings at No. 8 following Braswell's 35-24 victory over Crandall. Crandall presented quality personnel, while Braswell came away with an impressive opening-week win. As more individual production and film become available, Moore will have an opportunity to move up the rankings.
